My Sven Forkbeard, shield or not? You decide!

Several people have commented on the Sven Forkbeard model that I painted for Tony last week. While painting the Shieldwall Vikings I also painted my own Sven that Tony was kind enough to send me for doing his. Today, having finished the base, I thought I would show off my own Sven.

I have blu-tacked on the shield and I'm going to let my blog followers decide shield or not. Now the Duchy of Scrivsland is not a democracy so take maximum advantage of this rare bit of people power.

    While he does look fine without it, adding the shield would confirm his status as a wealthy and powerful Viking.

    I say with as well, and I did make that decision without reading the comments! I like the detail on the chain mail aon his back so I can see where you are coming from in asking the question. Looks like you are building up a fine collection of Vikings.

    I'm going to be awkward and say 'without'. THe shield covers up some nice detail. It would also look as if he's lost his shield (last stand and all that) and/or gone a bit mental (or berserk if you want to be historical). Plus you could always blu tac the shield on if you ever need to represent a champion etc.
