WWII Soviets reboot (5)

After three weeks getting stuff ready for my Agincourt game at Danecon this weekend it has been time to go back to the WWII project and crack on with the last few WWII Soviets in the lead pile.

These seven are all from the old Bolt Action Miniatures range sculpted by the very talented Paul Hicks, lovely figures with bags of character.

So, I'm now out of figures for both the Hundred Years War and WWII Soviets so the next few weeks of blog updates shall likely be a mish-mash of things until I can get a restock.

Looking at my "Battle against the lead mountain" counter this brings me up to a nice round 400 28mm foot figures painted so far this year, which compares vary favourably with the 250 that I painted in the entirety of 2018, maybe that lead mountain shall be conquered!

WWII Soviets reboot (4)

Another batch of Soviets for the collection, this time seven infantry from the old Bolt Action Miniatures range.

A motley crew kitted out in Telogreika for campaigning in the cold weather.

Although nice sculpts they are nowhere near as nice and easy to paint as the Artizan Miniatures ones that I have been doing lately but they do the job and I can now field over three platoons for our Chain of Command and I Ain't Been Shot Mum games.

I used the same palette as the previous batches and it's here for those looking for inspiration for their own Soviets that may want to check it out.

There are another seven on the paint table at the moment and then I appear to be out of Soviets, although I always seem to find a few more of anything whenever I look in the lead pile. I'm running out of space to store these so will have to pick up another Really Useful Box to extend the collection .

WWII Soviets reboot (1)

These four figures have been sat base-coated and washed at the back of the painting table for well over a year now. This week I finally succumbed and spent an hour or so finishing them off.

One of the reasons for keeping the blog is to have a reference to previous paint schemes when I return to a project, so this post from 30 months ago came in very useful.

I think that these figures are all from the old Bolt Action Miniatures (BAM) range that was sculpted by Paul Hicks and then subsequently acquired by Warlord Games.

This week I have started on a load of Artizan Designs Soviets I picked up in a Northstar sale back in July last year, looks like 28mm WWII is back on the Scrivsland deck for a while.

WWII British Airborne, Special Forces and Resistance

This week I completed a few more WWII figures for chum Tony. A mix of British airborne, special forces and French partisans.

Three more British airborne in Denison Smocks, I think the two on the right are old Bolt Action Miniatures, not sure of the guy with the PIAT.

Five Bolt Action Miniaures airborne/special forces in a mix of jumpers and parkas. One chap has a French marine bonnet, another is kilted.

Finally two French resistance guides, one has an old WWI horizon bleu Adrian helmet. Both have tricolour armbands and are armed with liberated German weapons including a PanzerFaust. I am pretty sure that these are from Warlord Games.

They shall be winging their way over to Blighty in the next couple of days.

WWII British Airborne and SAS

I've done a group of WWII British Special Forces and Paratroopers for chum Tony. They are a mix of figures from various manufacturers including Artizan Designs, Warlord Games and Bolt Action Miniatures.

They were where generally a delight to paint, although I've found you can quickly go off of painting Denison Smocks :)

I'll pop them in the post to him when I'm back in the UK next week.
