Prussian reinforcements (5)

I woke up with the lurgy this weekend so the drive to paint with a cough and runny nose was somewhat curtailed, but the Prussian Production Line rolled on to the end*

The last two battalions of infantry, the first one representing a unit of Grenadiers.

All the figures in the post are from Baccus6mm while the bases are all a custom order from Warbases. I had magnet holes in the bases so that the small figures get no additional lift.

The second unit a battalion of reservists.

There were enough Landwehr skirmishers for another four bases, I did a couple of bases in blue coats with light blue facings and a couple in grey coats with red facing.

There were enough six pounders and an howitzer to complete a fifth battery of artillery.

The last few troops are another four artillery limbers.

*This represents the last few Prussians in the backlog, there are a few Landwehr infantry that could be used to add to Brigade command stands but I don't have any commanders to mount with them.

Coming soon, the start of the French to oppose them.

Prussian reinforcements (4)

The Prussian Production Line slowed a little this week as we had a cracking game of GDA, starting on  on Friday evening and playing through Saturday:

So, not quite as much painted as earlier weeks but more stuff was done, some of it featured in the game.

Firstly a battalion of Prussian Landwehr.

And another battalion of Prussian Landwehr.

This is the last of the Landwehr figures in the backlog and brings me up to eight battalions of these in the collection now.

The Baccus cavalry comes in packs of 45 and I make two 18-man units out of a pack, leaving quite a few figures left over.

There were enough Uhlans left over to add another single base to the 1st Uhlans, and enough Landwehr cavalry to add a double base to the Westphalians I featured in my last post.

These extra bases will allow me to field both of these as large units in our GdA games.

There were a lot more cavalry commanders left over, so I made a couple of Brigade command stands, one of Dragoons and one of Uhlans.

I needed a few more brigade commanders for the game, so painted up the last few mounted generals I had and made up the numbers on the bases with a few Reservists that did not fit in the unit structures I had.

The rest of the cavalry figures were mounted individually to represent Aide de Camp that you never seem to have enough of when playing GdA.

Finally I had a few spare reservists, so I made a couple of stands of them guarding piles of cannon balls to use to denote objective markers. Not sure why cannon balls need to be guarded, I don't think they are goings anywhere.....

The backlog in the Prussian Production Line is quite depleted now and I reckon there are likely only one or two mores posts before I switch over to something else.

Prussian reinforcements (3)

Following on from the last post, more troops have rolled off the Prussian production line.

This time it's two units each of cavalry and infantry plus four artillery caissons. All the figures are from the Baccus 6mm range while the bases are from Warbases.

The first unit is a unit of reservists in their plain old grey uniforms, these can really represent any of the grey clad reserve battalions.

The second unit of the week is a battalion of regulars with red facings, again these can represent many of the units in the army.

Both the flags are from the Baccus range, but they shed ink rather easily so I've taken to touching them up with a paint marker, they are still not that great.

Now for some fancy-pants Uhlans representing an actual unit, the 2nd Uhlans that were part of II Corps reserve brigade.

The next cavalry unit is also a named unit, of Westphalian Landwehr.

An attempt was made using the paint markers to add a cross to each pennant but they are just too small, so a dot had to suffice.

Finally a quartet of artillery caissons.

These are an important part of the General d'Armee II rules, four would be a very expensive painting effort in 28mm, but at 6mm it's easy to crank them out and get them on the table.

This weekend the collection so far of Prussians; 20 infantry battalions, eight cavalry, four batteries and all the ancillaries will be taking part in our biggest 6mm General d'Armee II game so far.

Prussian reinforcements (2)

A second instalment of Prussian reinforcements for our General D'Armee games.

First up is a battalion of Landwehr infantry from Elbe with light blue facings (48 foot)

The next Landwehr unit represents a battalion from Pomerania with white facings (40 foot)

A unit of cavalry representing the 1st Uhlans (18 cavalry)

Four bases of skirmishing Fusiliers in the grey uniform of the reserves (24 foot)

A battery of 6 pounders with attached howitzer (16 foot, 4 guns)

Eight limbers, enough for two batteries (24 mounted, 24 horses, 8 vehicles)

Four command stands, the larger one represents a divisional commander, the smaller ones commanding cavalry brigades (14 mounted)

Finally, I painted up some redoubts to cover two infantry battalions.

More soon!
