The recent Midgard supplement À Montfort! À Montfort! contains lots of my rank and file troops, but James had been concentrating on getting most of the characters done.
With the release of the Wargames Atlantic Mounted Knight Command I thought I should buy that set, plus a set of the Mounted Knights and set around making a few commanders of my own.

For Simon de Montforts' two-tailed Lion I used decals from VVV that were added as part of the base-coat, washed liked the rest of the figure with AP Strong Tone and then highlighted along with everything else.

Roger Mortimer, 1st Baron Mortimer of Wigmore. Royalist Baron, credited with the killing of Simon de Montfort at the Battle of Evesham.
His bannerman is a Footsore model.
Henry de Hastings, rebel Knight, made Baron by Simon de Montfort. The bannerman is again a Footsore model.
Hugh le Despenser, close companion and ally of Simon de Montfort, killed alongside him at the Battle of Evesham. Bannerman from Footsore again.
John de Warenne, 6th Earl of Surrey. Originally a supporter of Simon de Montfort, switched to the Royalist cause before hostilities began.
I was running low on suitable bannermen so John is accompanied by the faithful hound from the command pack.
Nicholas Segrave, 1st Baron Segrave. Rebel baron. Looks like I buggered up the heraldry on the model and painted him as his son John who fought in the Scottish Wars of Independence. So, I painted his bannerman with the three wheatsheafs.
King Henry III. This is actually the King John model from Footsore, but like father like son.
"A Peaceful Not Warlike Man" I wanted him to be less martial than the other commanders.
Accompanied by a Lusignan flunkey while a knight pays homage.
Left over after painting all the commanders were a quintet of Knights who will join the rest of the force.
I also took the opportunity to add a few more stamina loss markers.
I've really enjoyed painting 28mm again!
