WWII French Partizans

While the bug for painting WWII has me I finished off a trio of WWII French Resistance fighters for chum Tony. Not sure of the provenance of the figures but they were nice sculpts to paint.

WWII British Airborne, Special Forces and Resistance

This week I completed a few more WWII figures for chum Tony. A mix of British airborne, special forces and French partisans.

Three more British airborne in Denison Smocks, I think the two on the right are old Bolt Action Miniatures, not sure of the guy with the PIAT.

Five Bolt Action Miniaures airborne/special forces in a mix of jumpers and parkas. One chap has a French marine bonnet, another is kilted.

Finally two French resistance guides, one has an old WWI horizon bleu Adrian helmet. Both have tricolour armbands and are armed with liberated German weapons including a PanzerFaust. I am pretty sure that these are from Warlord Games.

They shall be winging their way over to Blighty in the next couple of days.

WWII British Airborne and SAS

I've done a group of WWII British Special Forces and Paratroopers for chum Tony. They are a mix of figures from various manufacturers including Artizan Designs, Warlord Games and Bolt Action Miniatures.

They were where generally a delight to paint, although I've found you can quickly go off of painting Denison Smocks :)

I'll pop them in the post to him when I'm back in the UK next week.

Viking warriors for Tony

This week I've finished a dozen Viking warriors that shall be returning to the UK in the new year to join Tonys' collection.

I started painting these months ago, six of the warriors had been base-coated and washed while still in the UK, they crossed the Atlantic with me and languished on the painting table for ages before I finished them off last week. The second six were done in a much more timely manner over the past few days.

The first four are Shieldwall Miniatures Viking beserkers.

The next are all Gripping Beast warriors and leaders.

Finally four Gripping Beast axemen, one converted to carry a banner, this is a Little Bigman Studios Raven Banner.

For next weeks update I shall be back on mt El Cid forces, more Black Guard and hopefully my first few Andalusians.

The final 14 Bosche for James before we leave

In two weeks time Victoria and I shall be on our way to the airport and starting a new chapter in our lives when we relocate to Wisconsin. As you can imagine, I have been pretty busy with sorting things out for that, but, I wanted to wrap up a few painting commitments before we leave.

James and I have done rather a lot of work together over the past 18 months on our Battle of Verdun  project and those of you following our posts will know that although James has done the bulk of the French I have provided all the Germans. So that he has some opponents while I am in the USA I have been painting a platoon of Hun for him, wrapping up the last 14 with a coat of varnish this morning.

Six German Infantry in Assault Packs

Six German Officers and NCOs

A flame-thrower from the German Specialists pack.

Here are a selection of close-ups. That German Officers and NCOs pack especially has some really characterful models.

Artizan Partizans with LMGs and SMGs

Tony asked if I could paint him a couple of packs of Partizans from Artizan Designs. They are lovely figures and I was happy to oblige.

These are the SWW706 - Partisan LMG's, lovely figures but not sure why the prone one does not come with a bipod, so I improvised with a Renedra sand-bag and some brass rod.

This is the SWW705 - Partisan SMG's

All are lovely figures and a joy to paint.

Another dozen Germans for James

I am continuing to work through some WWI Germans for chum James and have added another dozen to the six I did a few weeks ago.

All are Great War Miniatures and are painted in my standard WWI German scheme.

Here are a few more close-ups. You'll notice I'm experimenting with a new blue backdrop instead of the familiar green, what are your thoughts?

First figures of 2016 - WWI Germans for James

These are my first figures for 2016, a half-dozen Great War Miniatures German WWI infantry painted for chum James. He'll be doing the bases himself, hence them on temporary squares.

The photos are not very good, shot on the windows sill at lunchtime as I'll be handing them over tonight.
