The El Cid project has been getting some attention of late and this week I finished six Andalusian Jinetes from the Gripping Beast range.
These fellows have been in the backlog for a long time, I recused them from the "primed but nothing doing" box at the back of the painting desk where they have languished about three years and set about slapping some paint on.
As with all these old Gripping Beast El Cid models they are a delight to paint and as luck would have it there are still a few of these models left in the backlog of shame that I hope to get done over then next few days.
They also contributed another 65pts towards my Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge over here.
I suppose the next step will be to start gaming with them.
I like 'em a lot, Paul! After a long time, I finally pulled some Reconquista from The Lead Pile and put them into the painting queue. I have several units worth of figures in the "primed but nothing doing" box at the back of the painting desk too! One day, I may get to them.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jonathan, hope to see your Reconquista stuff painted some day.
DeleteVery nice. Always loved the old GB sculpts
ReplyDeleteThanks Neil, they are dated but still very nice.
DeleteVery colourful.

DeleteGreat looking figures Paul, as you say a joy to paint and a superb range.

DeleteGreat stuff Paul, nice brushwork on those figures.
ReplyDeletemy pile of Shame, ding ding, shame, ding ding shame, ding ding.... is slowly being whittled away also, possibly 1000 figs in the to do pile, trying to be accountable myself this year, I have added my project log on my blog so I can tick it off.
Cheers
Matt
Thanks Matt, I had a good clear-out before moving to the US but did bring quite a bit with me. While browsing at the weekend I found enough Napoleonic French for a good-sized Sharpe Practice force.
DeleteNicely done. Eye catching.
ReplyDeleteColorful and dynamic cavalry, well done!
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil
DeleteThanks Allan
ReplyDeleteVery nice. You really can't bear Islamic horse archers in color or style, except maybe hussars 🤔
ReplyDeleteMaybe they are proto-hussars
DeleteI think you're right. Christans copy the jinetes too?
ReplyDeleteGreat looking figures, Scrivs. Love the backdrop too.
ReplyDeleteCheers Dean, Victoria can be thanked for that, very talented she is.
